Elon Musk sues 4 unknown people for scraping Twitter’s information

The Elon Musk-owned X Corp. is suing 4 unnamed people over allegations they illegally scraped person information from Twitter, as first reported by CNBC. The lawsuit was filed in a Dallas County, Texas, courtroom on July sixth and seeks over $1 million in damages.

In keeping with the criticism, the 4 entities, that are recognized solely by their IP addresses, unlawfully scraped Twitter person information in violation of the platform’s phrases of service. The lawsuit describes these IP addresses as “flooding” Twitter’s sign-up web page with “automated requests,” which allegedly put a pressure on the corporate’s servers and disrupted customers’ expertise.

X Corp. says it “has been unable to establish” the identities of all 4 people. The corporate alleges that their actions constituted unjust enrichment at X Corp.’s expense, noting that the defendants made a revenue “from their unauthorized scraping of Twitter information.”
